Wellbeing
At Fyans Park Primary School we place a strong emphasis on the engagement and wellbeing of all our students.
At Fyans Park Primary School, we are committed to supporting your child’s social and emotional growth to further build a sense of connection and belonging to school and support a greater capacity for learning and in all aspects of life.
We utilise our three school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience in all aspects of our teaching and learning programs. The values are displayed in each classroom and around our school and are well known to students and continually referred to throughout the school day.
Fyans Park Primary School is a partnership school with The Resilience Project, and we have implemented a two-year scope and sequence for all students in F-6 aligned to the Victorian Curriculum. The teachings of TRP (The Resilience Project) are embedded throughout the school day and in addition, all students have a targeted wellbeing hour each week with a focus on GEM – Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness.
Our school’s scope and sequence for learning embeds RRRR (Resilience Rights and Respectful Relationships Program) a core component of the Victorian Curriculum designed to promote social, emotional and positive relationship skills and further embed a culture of respect and equality across the entire school.
To further enhance our school’s wellbeing programs, we have a School Chaplain (3 days per fortnight) who works closely with our students and staff. Our Chaplain supports students with friendship issues, loss or grief, family separation or any other issues that concern a student’s wellbeing. The expertise of our Chaplain and key wellbeing staff supports our goal of improving inclusiveness within the school, allowing every student to thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Our Principal class team and Inclusion Coordinator play a crucial role in assisting families in accessing external agencies and programs. This support helps to create a network of care that extends well beyond the school, ensuring that students and families receive the comprehensive support they need.
Our Wellbeing Leader leads our school’s implementation of SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) and ensures our schools Tier 1 supports for all students are in place. Fyans Park Primary School also run lunchtime clubs designed and planned by students and for students of all ages to participate in.
The lunchtime clubs are run by student leaders and our Wellbeing Leader and each day there are different activities taking place. Lunchtime activities can include Lego building, board games, mindfulness, book club, coding club and run club just to name a few. These activities are developed with the students interests at the forefront and for those seeking an alternative to the playground.
At Fyans Park we differentiate our response to support student wellbeing for individual students similarly to our approach to learning to ensure that each child receives what they need in order to thrive and have the best possible experience of school.
